South Africa has become one of the top destinations for golf enthusiasts, placed on the southern tip of Africa lies this country of diversity. South Africans greet all travellers with open arms and present there country with pride, they invite there guest to experience an adventure. Cape region with its Table Mountain, Robben Island, Cape Horn and all its wine farms, Garden route that stretches from Mossel Bay all the way up to Storms River in the east presents itself with its beauty and amazing coastline. If you travel even further up, "The big five" (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo) will greet you in the Kruger park.
South Africa has got a broad spectrum of various golf courses from challenging Links courses to picturesque parkland courses. It's the combination between the magnificent nature and the high standards of golf courses that makes South Africa to such a sought after destination.
Cape Town, regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in the world lies at the foot of "Table Mountain", surrounded by two oceans, the cold Atlantic to the west and the warm Indian Ocean to the east. This place is one of the favourite destinations amongst travellers to South Africa. Cape Town and its surroundings have got a raw of championship courses, Erinvale, Atlantic Beach and Clovelly, just to mention a few. Cape Town is only 30 minutes drive from the well known wine district "Stellenbosch". Here you can enjoy an abundance of brands, amongst them the unique "Pinotage".
"The Wild Coast" is known for its beauty and its untouched nature. If you choose to spend your holiday in South Africa alongside this south-easterly coast you will experience something unique. The golf courses are both challenging and demanding and don't be surprised if the wind wants to join the game. If you look out into the ocean you will see dolphins riding the weaves, this is a place you never want to leave.
The most famous golf course in South Africa is probably the Gary Player golf course designed by the 9 time major winner and only one of five who has ever won the grand slam of golf, Gary Player. The course is located about 150 km North West of Pretoria at the Sun City resort and is voted as one of South Africa's best courses. Each year, 18 of the world's best players compete here at the famous Nedbank million challenge.
