Can an iron head truly have a high Coefficient of Restitution (COR)? It can if the materials and engineering of the design are modified from traditional manufacturing to provide true performance benefits. Hi-COR Hot Face irons are precision cast from high-strength 15-5 steel. This durable steel has been the material choice for oversize stainless steel metal woods because of its high strength and ability to be successfully cast with thin walls. Hi-COR Hot Face iron heads feature a multi-level thickness face design, which is cast separately from the back. The face is just 1.5mm in the thinnest points and 3.0mm at its thickest point. Most iron heads are manufactured with a face that is 3mm to 4mm thick. The strategic multi-level face design and the two urethane channel inserts in the sole and toe (just behind the face) allow the face to flex and raise the COR, much like a thin-face oversize driver. The ball comes off with a hot feel, and maintains its flight seemingly forever. These unique iron heads combine multi-level face technology with extreme perimeter weighting with a deep undercut cavity design that pulls mass to the perimeter to maximize forgiveness.
