This new Command BK Driver from Pinemeadow Golf, which is similar in features and performance to the TaylorMade® R7 CGB MAX, has two distinct features: the triangular club head shape and the three weight ports in the back of the club head.
This is different to the previously popular four weight ports in the i.e. Quad driver and many others. Adjusting four different screws turned out to be somewhat messy, and beginners and average golfers were confused and turned off by the possibility of hundreds of weight combinations.
How it workes
Let's look at the term 'Center of Gravity'. The center of gravity is the point inside the club head were the head is perfectly balanced, and this obviously varies depending on the shape of the head. The positioning of the center of gravity within the clubhead affects the trajectory of shots: i.e. if the center of gravity is positioned low and back in the clubhead it will produce a higher initial launch trajectory. In contrast, if the center of gravity is positioned high and forward in the clubhead it will produce a comparatively lower initial launch trajectory. The triangular shape shifts the center of gravity more towards the back of the club head, and the result is an increase in the launch angle. This gives you a higher trajectory and a longer drive with less effort, especially benefiting golfers with slow to medium swing speeds. An enlarged club face also gives greater forgiveness when you hit the ball off center.
The weight ports for the Pinemeadow Golf Command BK Driver come with two weighted screws of 3 grams and one of 6 grams, and an Allen wrench. Positioning the differently weighted screws shifts the center of gravity either closer to the heel or to the toe of the club. For example, if you put more weight on the outside (toe) of the club head you slow down the speed at which the club face closes before impact - in this case resulting in a fade. Fiddling with these weights allows you to customise the driver to your very own swing needs (for right hand players):
If you want the ball to move to the right (playing a fade), place the 6-gram weight into the right side (the toe) of the clubhead.
If you want the ball to move slightly to the left (play a slight draw), place the 6 gram weight in the middle weight port.
If you want to play a larger draw, place the 6 gram weight into the left side (the heel) of the clubhead.
Our impressions
The club head is made from titanium and boasts the maximum allowed size of 460cc. It comes in two lofts, 10.5 degrees and 12 degrees, with the latter being our recommendation for beginner golfers and golfers with slower swing speeds like most ladies and seniors. Like the whole BK Command series from Pinemeadow Golf the Pinemeadow Golf Command BK Driver comes in shiny 'black pearl' finish. It looks very elegant and confidence building at address, a nice club to look at.
During our test we were surprised by the added distance with this driver, despite the higher launch angle due to the rear center of gravity which normally means reduced distance. This is generally a good thing, only on windy days when your ball can get caught in adverse winds you should probably tee the ball a bit lower to counter the higher trajectory, although you may give up some distance. Another surprise was the solid sound of this driver, almost like a small explosion at impact. The stock shaft we tested is good and will suffice for most players, and upgrades are available if you want a premium shaft.
Our verdict
In summary this is a great club for mid to high handicappers, especially those who tend to hit the ball too low. The Pinemeadow Golf Command BK Driver comes with the exclusive low-torque Pinemeadow Limited Graphite shaft and costs only $119.95, inclusive of custom fitting. This is great value for money, especially if you compare it to the price of the Taylor Made® R7 CGB Max at $449.

I just recently bought this driver as well as a 3 wood and hybrid/irons set, and I am incredibly satisfied. I cannot believe the quality and value of this club. My very first outing on the range was amazing, my drive range went up about 30-40 yards! I am very excited about these clubs and they are definitely one of the best purchases I've ever made :D
