Clicgear 2.0 Push Cart

by Frank J. Peter

Clicgear 2.0 Push Cart Review Clicgear makes one product only, their unique three-wheel folding push cart - and they are really good at it. Their first model won the "Best New Product Award" at the 2007 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida. From then on they focused on improving functionality and design, which eventually resulted in the 2009 Clicgear 2.0 Push Cart reviewed here.

While some people may argue against it I am a firm believer that walking a course (with or without cart) beats driving a buggy at any time, as long as your health permits it of course. If you like to walk the course you will still remember these clunky pull carts that were so big when folded that they took over the trunk of your car. They were also quite a hazard during folding and unfolding, resulting in countless pinched fingers.

Meet the Clicgear 2.0 Push Cart: when folded it is only some 13" x 15" x 24" in size and will not unfold when you pick it up, thus saving your fingers. The unfolding (and folding) are extremely easy to manage, you just need to first pull the main lever on the side and then pull the latch to lower the wheels - quite obvious when you actually see it. For the 'mechanically challenged' Clickgear includes written instructions and even a DVD, but they are generally not necessary as everything is quite obvious. It folds and unfolds in a snap.

The cart is made of some very sturdy, powder coated aluminum frame (5, 6) and big wheels that make pushing the cart and your heavy golf back easy, even in somewhat muddy conditions, gravel or high grass. In contrast to other carts the tires here are airless (7), so no pumping or other maintenance necessary. The front wheel can be adjusted in case the alignment is off (8). The cart handle can be adjusted to your body height by turning just one knob (4). Also on the handle are a posi-lock hand brake (1) that prevents the cart from rolling off in a hilly area while you take your shot, and a full size console (2) that will hold some balls, tees, hand phone (if you really have to bring one) as well as your score card. The console is unfortunately not fully waterproof. The handle has a small hole at position (9) in which you can stick your golf umbrella when it rains. If it's not raining you can store your umbrella in a tube (11) just below the handle. Last but not least, what is a good cart without a beverage holder? Well, there is a cup holder (10) big enough to firmly hold drink containers of various sizes. There are two towel holders on the handle as well, and a small velcro strap that holds your golf glove when you are not wearing it.

The adjustable bag brackets (3) will hold a stand bag easily and securely, and due to the unobstructive design you can reach all pockets. The bottom bracket has an additional 'foot' in the bottom that prevents the bag from slipping onto the wheel. The way the cart sits low behind the front wheel gives it quite an elegant look.

Clicgear 2.0 Push Cart Review

The cart comes in seven different colors with the one shown above in 'Kiwi' - a bit heavy for my eyes. Popular colors are blue, silver, red and black, while bright yellow and orange are also available.

At US$200 the Clicgear 2.0 Push Cart is definitely not cheap, but you pay for excellent quality, well thought thru design and of course that small size when folded. In addition it looks great and is easy to use, so I think it is worth every cent. I'm sure you you're going to love for years to come.
